Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Pemoxatide (also known as pegmoxatide or HS-10250) is a long-acting, synthetic peptide-based erythropoiesis-stimulating agent (ESA) developed by Hansoh Pharmaceutical. It is a pegylated dimeric peptide that acts as a selective agonist of the erythropoietin receptor (EPOR). Unlike recombinant human erythropoietin (rhEPO), pemoxatide has no sequence homology with endogenous erythropoietin, which significantly reduces the risk of developing neutralizing antibodies that can lead to pure red cell aplasia (PRCA). It was approved by China's NMPA in June 2023 for the treatment of anemia in adult patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) who are receiving hemodialysis. Its long half-life allows for less frequent dosing, typically once every four weeks, compared to traditional ESAs.
