Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Penn Microbiome Therapy - 001 (PMT-001) is a fecal microbiota transplant (FMT) biologic product developed by the University of Pennsylvania for the treatment of severe and severe-complicated/fulminant Clostridium difficile infection (CDI). The therapy consists of a diverse community of live microorganisms derived from healthy donor stool, intended to restore a balanced intestinal microbiome and re-establish colonization resistance against C. difficile. It has been evaluated in Phase II clinical trials (NCT03970200) as an adjunctive treatment to standard antibiotic therapy to improve clinical outcomes in patients with life-threatening CDI.
