Overview
Penn Microbiome Therapy - 003 (PMT-003) is an investigational fecal microbiota transplant (FMT) product developed by the University of Pennsylvania in collaboration with the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. [1] It is a biologic therapy designed to treat severe Clostridium difficile infection (C. difficile) by restoring a healthy balance of gut bacteria. The therapy, which consists of fecal microbiota, targets the disrupted gut microbiome and is administered as an enema. [6] PMT-003 was being evaluated in a Phase II clinical trial in combination with standard antibiotic therapy, but the trial has been terminated. [6]
