Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Pentabio (often referred to as Pentavalen in Indonesia) is a pentavalent combination vaccine developed and manufactured by PT Bio Farma. It is a biological product containing five active antigens: diphtheria toxoid, tetanus toxoid, whole-cell pertussis (wP), recombinant hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg), and Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib) conjugate. The vaccine is indicated for active immunization against diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, hepatitis B, and invasive diseases caused by Hib in infants and children. It is provided as a ready-to-use liquid for intramuscular administration. Pentabio received WHO prequalification in December 2014, making it eligible for global procurement by organizations such as UNICEF and PAHO. A Phase 2/3 clinical trial was conducted to evaluate antibody persistence and immune response to a booster dose in Indonesian children.
