Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Pentagum is a pentagon-shaped chewing gum product developed by Lactea Therapeutics to support oral health and manage dental biofilms, particularly in austere environments where routine hygiene is limited, such as for military personnel. The product utilizes the company's proprietary Multifunctional Innate Immune Protein (MIIP) technology, which is based on an ultrapure form of bovine lactoferrin (Lactea Lf). Pentagum acts as a biological barrier to inhibit the formation and persistence of oral biofilms. The development of this technology involves partnerships with Johns Hopkins University and Brigham Young University.
