Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Pentavite is an established, commercially available pediatric oral liquid multivitamin supplement widely used in Australia for infants and young children aged 0 to 3 years. The formulation contains a combination of essential vitamins, including Vitamin D3 (colecalciferol), Vitamin A (retinol palmitate), Vitamin C (calcium ascorbate dihydrate), and various B-complex vitamins (thiamine, riboflavin, nicotinamide, and pyridoxine). It acts primarily by targeting the Vitamin D receptor (VDR) and other nutrient-specific pathways to support calcium and phosphate absorption, bone mineralization, immune function, and general growth and development. Pentavite is indicated for the prevention and treatment of vitamin deficiencies, particularly Vitamin D deficiency, in at-risk infants such as preterm infants or those with inadequate sun exposure. In clinical research, it has been utilized as a daily oral comparator against single-dose vitamin D3 regimens in breastfed infants of vitamin D-deficient mothers.
