Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Pentaxim is a pentavalent combination vaccine developed by Sanofi Pasteur for the active immunization of infants and children against five major infectious diseases: diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough), poliomyelitis, and invasive infections caused by Haemophilus influenzae type b (such as meningitis and septicaemia). The vaccine consists of diphtheria and tetanus toxoids, acellular pertussis components (pertussis toxoid and filamentous haemagglutinin), inactivated poliovirus (types 1, 2, and 3), and a Haemophilus influenzae type b polysaccharide conjugated to tetanus protein. It is designed to reduce the number of injections required for primary vaccination and booster doses in early childhood, thereby improving compliance and coverage.
