Overview

Pentethylquine is a long-acting anticholinergic small molecule drug, independently developed by the Chinese Academy of Military Sciences. It is primarily known for its highly selective antagonistic effects on M1 and M3 muscarinic acetylcholine receptors, with a weaker antagonistic effect on M2 receptors. Additionally, it acts as an antagonist at N cholinergic receptors. These actions lead to the inhibition of glandular secretion and other anticholinergic effects. It is utilized in medical settings, including as an adjunct in anesthesia induction, and has shown potential therapeutic value in conditions such as organophosphorus poisoning and various respiratory diseases.
