pentetropium bromide

Pentetropium bromide is a synthetic anticholinergic agent developed by Chengdu List Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. for the treatment of microcirculatory disorders and septic shock. It acts as a selective antagonist of muscarinic (specifically M1 and M3 subtypes) and nicotinic receptors. By blocking these receptors, it helps improve microcirculation, reduce glandular secretion, and alleviate smooth muscle spasms. It is being investigated in China as a potential therapeutic alternative to atropine or penehyclidine, particularly for its utility in managing septic shock and organophosphate poisoning. Clinical development has included Phase 1 pharmacokinetic studies comparing intramuscular and intravenous administration in healthy volunteers.
