Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Pep-98-NSC74859 conjugate is a peptide-drug conjugate consisting of Pep-98, a cell-penetrating peptide (CPP) derived from the reverse-transcriptase subunit of human telomerase (hTERT), conjugated to NSC74859 (also known as S3I-201), a selective inhibitor of signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3). Developed by researchers at Seoul National University, the conjugate is designed to selectively target and deliver the STAT3 inhibitor into cancer cells, particularly head and neck cancer cells, while sparing normal cells. By utilizing the cancer-specific cell-penetrating activity of Pep-98, the conjugate significantly enhances the intracellular delivery and anti-cancer efficacy of NSC74859, allowing for a substantial reduction in the required therapeutic dose and minimizing non-specific toxic side effects.
