PEP03

PEP03 is a name associated with several distinct biomedical entities, most notably a small molecule inhibitor of 5-lipoxygenase (5-LO) and various synthetic peptides used in vaccine and diagnostic research. The 5-LO inhibitor, also identified as SC-559503, was developed by Pharmacia (now Pfizer) as an orally active treatment for inflammatory respiratory diseases such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It works by blocking the biosynthesis of leukotrienes, including leukotriene B4 (LTB4) and cysteinyl leukotrienes, which are potent mediators of bronchoconstriction, vascular leakage, and lung inflammation.
