Overview

PepFactor Scalp is a hair restoration treatment developed by ReGen Factor, an Australian biotechnology company. The active ingredient is a recombinant basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF), a large molecule protein designed to treat androgenetic alopecia (AGA) in both men and women. The mechanism of action involves bFGF binding to fibroblast growth factor receptors, which stimulates the proliferation of dermal papilla cells, enlarges hair follicles, and induces the anagen (growth) phase of the hair cycle. Additionally, it promotes the production of collagen and elastin in the scalp to improve the hair growth environment. It is typically administered via microneedling followed by topical application of the serum. While currently marketed as a cosmeceutical, the company has initiated clinical development paths for pharmaceutical applications, including FDA pre-IND planning.
