Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**PeptiBAC** is an experimental **peptide-coated BCG-based therapeutic vaccine platform** being developed by **Valo Therapeutics** after acquisition from the **University of Helsinki**. It uses **Bacillus Calmette-Guérin** as a live bacterial backbone onto which **disease-specific peptides** are physically attached, typically via peptide modifications such as poly-lysine sequences that enable coating of the mycobacterial outer membrane. In preclinical cancer models, intratumoral administration broadened BCG-driven immunity to include tumor-antigen-specific T-cell responses, increased systemic and intratumoral CD8-positive T-cell activity, and showed enhanced antitumor effects including improved responses when combined with **PD-1 checkpoint blockade**. The platform has also been described as having potential in **tuberculosis** vaccination by delivering multiple pathogen-specific antigens, but available public evidence appears to be preclinical and platform-level rather than an approved or late-stage product.
