Overview

Peptichemio is an oncolytic drug with alkylating and antimetabolic properties. It is a mixture of six peptides derived from m-L-sarcolysin, a derivative of melphalan where the di(2-chloroethyl)aminogroup is shifted from the para- to the meta-position on phenylalanine. Peptichemio acts by inducing DNA cross-linking leading to cytotoxic effects against cancer cells. It has been studied in various cancers including diffuse non-Hodgkin's lymphomas, advanced breast cancer, neuroblastoma in children, and melanoma cell lines. The drug shows moderate bone marrow depression as toxicity and has demonstrated efficacy especially when combined with other agents like vincristine and 6-methylprednisolone. It was developed as a chemotherapeutic agent for solid tumors and hematologic malignancies.[1][4][5][6]
