Overview

Peptidase (also known as Enzotein) is an oral enzyme-based nutritional formulation developed by Mylin Biotech India for the management of protein-energy malnutrition (PEM) in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and end-stage renal disease (ESRD). The product consists of a proprietary blend of proteolytic enzymes and low-dose protein supplements designed to optimize protein breakdown, assimilation, and absorption. By achieving a Protein Digestibility-Corrected Amino Acid Score (PDCAAS) greater than 1, it ensures high protein utility while minimizing the production of gut-derived uremic toxins. Clinical data suggests that Peptidase is more effective than standard whey protein at lower doses. It is typically administered as a water-reconstituted powder before dialysis.
