Overview

Peptide 5A is a CD36 antagonist investigated for its potential to ameliorate vancomycin-induced acute kidney injury (AKI). Studies in mice have shown that Peptide 5A treatment significantly mitigates the decline in glomerular filtration rate (GFR) and reduces kidney injury scores caused by vancomycin. Its protective mechanisms are hypothesized to include blocking vancomycin entry into cells, reducing inflammation, and/or preventing cell death.
