Overview

Peptide P1 is a synthetic peptide identified through phage display that specifically binds to the VH1-69 (IGHV1-69) encoded immunoglobulin B-cell receptor (IgBCR) expressed on the surface of certain chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) cells. Developed by researchers at the Magna Graecia University of Catanzaro, it acts as a mimotope of the natural antigen for these specific leukemic clones. The peptide is primarily utilized as a high-affinity probe for the identification, isolation, and molecular characterization of aggressive CLL subpopulations via peptide-based cell sorting. Beyond its role as a research and diagnostic tool, Peptide P1 is being investigated for targeted therapeutic applications, including the delivery of cytotoxic agents as part of a peptide-drug conjugate and the potential modulation of B-cell signaling in CLL.
