Peptison

Peptison is a semi-elemental, peptide-based enteral nutrition formula designed for patients with impaired gastrointestinal function or malabsorption. It provides nitrogen in the form of short-chain peptides (oligopeptides), which are more readily absorbed than whole proteins, making it particularly effective for patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), Crohn's disease, or those recovering from major gastrointestinal surgeries such as esophagectomy. Clinical evidence suggests that Peptison, when used as exclusive enteral nutrition (EEN), can induce remission in Crohn's disease by reducing mucosal inflammation and downregulating pro-inflammatory cytokines, specifically interleukin-17A (IL-17A). It is typically administered via a nasogastric or jejunal tube.
