Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Peptisorb (marketed as Nutrison Advanced Peptisorb) is a nutritionally complete, semi-elemental, peptide-based enteral formula designed for the dietary management of disease-related malnutrition in patients with impaired gastrointestinal function. Manufactured by Nutricia (a Danone company), it contains short-chain peptides and hydrolyzed whey protein to facilitate absorption in patients with malabsorption or maldigestion conditions, such as short bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease, or bowel fistulae. It is a normocaloric (1 kcal/ml), fiber-free, and gluten-free liquid feed intended for tube administration under medical supervision. In clinical research, it has been utilized as a standard enteral nutrition control arm in trials evaluating immunostimulating formulas for postoperative recovery in gastrointestinal cancer patients.
