Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Peramivir + standard of care refers to a treatment approach for influenza where intravenous peramivir (a neuraminidase inhibitor) is administered alongside standard care treatments. Standard of care therapy could include other neuraminidase inhibitors such as oseltamivir. Peramivir is an FDA-approved intravenous antiviral medication for the treatment of acute uncomplicated influenza in adults. It was initially used under Emergency Use Authorization during the 2009 H1N1 pandemic for hospitalized patients who were unresponsive to or unable to tolerate available antivirals, or when oral and inhaled drug delivery routes were deemed unreliable.
