Overview

Perfluoropropane human albumin microspheres is an injectable ultrasound contrast agent consisting of perfluoropropane gas encapsulated within human serum albumin microspheres. It is designed to enhance the backscatter of ultrasound waves, thereby improving the visualization of cardiac structures during echocardiography. The microspheres are small enough to pass through the pulmonary capillary bed, allowing for opacification of the left ventricular chamber and improved delineation of the endocardial borders. This agent is particularly useful in patients where standard echocardiography yields suboptimal images. Xiamen LiZhuo Pharmaceutical has received approval for this agent in China for use in cardiac ultrasound contrast, marking it as a significant domestic generic alternative to established global brands like Optison.
