PeriCord

**PeriCord** is an investigational, allogeneic tissue-engineered cardiac bioimplant developed for chronic infarcted myocardium. It consists of viable human umbilical-cord Wharton's jelly-derived mesenchymal stromal cells seeded onto a decellularized human pericardial matrix. The matrix provides an implantable myocardial scaffold and local cell-delivery platform, while the stromal-cell component is intended to promote repair through paracrine, immunomodulatory, anti-inflammatory, and pro-revascularization effects. In the PERISCOPE Phase I study in patients with non-acute myocardial infarction undergoing surgical revascularization, PeriCord showed an acceptable safety profile through one year, without host immunosuppression; definitive clinical efficacy has not been established.
