perindopril + indapamide

Biopress is a fixed-dose combination drug containing perindopril, an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor, and indapamide, a thiazide-like diuretic. Developed by Ningbo Kangercon Menova Pharmaceutical, it is indicated for the treatment of primary hypertension. Perindopril acts by inhibiting the ACE enzyme, which prevents the formation of angiotensin II, a potent vasoconstrictor, and reduces the breakdown of bradykinin, leading to vasodilation and decreased blood pressure. Indapamide acts on the renal distal convoluted tubules to inhibit the reabsorption of sodium and chloride, promoting diuresis and further reducing peripheral vascular resistance. The combination of these two agents provides a synergistic effect in managing hypertension, offering more effective blood pressure control than either component alone.
