Perindoprilat

Perindoprilat is the active metabolite of perindopril, a long-acting angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor. Perindopril itself is a prodrug that is hydrolyzed in the liver to form perindoprilat after oral administration[3][5][6]. Perindoprilat acts as a potent, competitive inhibitor of ACE, blocking the conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II—a key step in the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS). By inhibiting this pathway, perindoprilat reduces vasoconstriction and aldosterone secretion, leading to relaxation of blood vessels and lower blood pressure[3][5].
