Drug intelligence / Profile preview
PeriOlimel is a multi-nutrient parenteral nutrition emulsion developed and marketed by Baxter. It is presented in a three-compartment bag containing a lipid emulsion (a mixture of refined olive oil and refined soybean oil), amino acids, and glucose (dextrose), with or without electrolytes. Due to its low osmolarity, it is suitable for administration via both peripheral and central veins. It is indicated for nutritional support in adults and children when oral or enteral nutrition is impossible, insufficient, or contraindicated, providing essential energy, maintaining nitrogen balance, and correcting fatty acid deficiencies. In clinical settings, it is used to stabilize body weight and composition in patients with various conditions, including colorectal and biliopancreatic cancers.
