Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The n-butanol fraction of *Periploca forrestii* Schltr. ethanol extract is a research-stage natural product mixture derived from the traditional Chinese medicinal plant *Periploca forrestii*. It is being investigated primarily by researchers at Guilin Medical University for its potential in treating Alzheimer's disease and arthritis. The fraction is composed of seventeen identified active components, including phenylpropanoids, flavonoids, anthraquinones, triterpenoids, and steroids. Network pharmacology and molecular docking studies suggest that the extract interacts with multiple biological targets, such as Tumor Necrosis Factor (TNF), AKT Serine/Threonine Kinase 1 (AKT1), and Estrogen Receptor 1 (ESR1), to exert anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective effects.
