Perlatte

Perlatte (Lactase Eurofarma) is an exogenous lactase enzyme supplement developed by Eurofarma Laboratorios S.A. for the management of lactose intolerance. The product contains the enzyme lactase, which acts as a biologic therapy to break down lactose—the primary disaccharide sugar found in milk and dairy products—into the simpler, absorbable sugars glucose and galactose. This mechanism compensates for the deficiency of endogenous lactase in patients with primary hypolactasia, thereby preventing the gastrointestinal distress associated with lactose malabsorption. Perlatte was evaluated in a Phase 3 multicenter, randomized, single-blind, non-inferiority clinical trial (NCT01145586) against the reference product Lactaid, demonstrating comparable efficacy and safety profiles for the supportive treatment of lactose intolerance symptoms.
