Peroxiredoxin 1 (PRDX1) small interfering RNA is a targeted RNA interference (RNAi) agent designed to silence the expression of the PRDX1 gene. PRDX1 is an antioxidant enzyme that plays a critical role in redox homeostasis and has been implicated in the progression of various cancers, including clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC). Research indicates that PRDX1 promotes tumor progression by modulating the EGFR-dependent AKT signaling pathway. By utilizing siRNA to degrade PRDX1 mRNA, the expression of the protein is significantly reduced, which in turn inhibits oncogenic signaling, reduces cell proliferation, and may limit metastasis. While currently utilized primarily as a research tool to validate PRDX1 as a therapeutic target, this modality represents a potential strategy for precision oncology.
