Overview

Adaptive Phage Therapeutics (APT) is developing a personalized bacteriophage therapy for the treatment of urinary tract infections (UTIs) caused by multidrug-resistant bacteria, specifically *Escherichia coli* and *Klebsiella pneumoniae*. This biologic therapy utilizes APT's PhageBank™, a continually expanding library of bacteriophages, to provide a tailored treatment approach. For each patient, a PhageBank Susceptibility Test™ (PST), developed in collaboration with Mayo Clinic Laboratories, is used to identify specific phages from the library that are active against the patient's unique bacterial isolate. These selected phages are then formulated into a personalized cocktail and administered either intravenously or via bladder instillation (intravesically). The therapy is designed to specifically infect and lyse the target uropathogenic bacteria while sparing the host's commensal microbiome. The program is supported by the U.S. Department of Defense and is currently being evaluated in a Phase 1/2 clinical trial.
