Overview

A personalized cancer vaccine consisting of patient-specific neoantigen-coding DNA plasmids. These plasmids are designed to encode immunogenic sequences unique to the patient's tumor. The resulting product is intended to stimulate the immune system by presenting these tumor-specific antigens and thereby induce a targeted anti-tumor immune response. The primary mechanism is immunomodulation through activation of T cells against tumor-specific neoantigens. Developed for use in cancers such as glioblastoma and hepatocellular carcinoma, this therapy is being developed by Geneos Therapeutics (a spinout of Inovio Pharmaceuticals) in collaboration with Inovio Pharmaceuticals and Washington University School of Medicine[1][2][3][4]. It belongs to the class of antineoplastics, cancer vaccines, DNA vaccines, and immunotherapies.
