Overview

This is a personalized neoantigen peptide vaccine developed by the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center for the treatment of intermediate or high-risk smoldering multiple myeloma (SMM). The vaccine is custom-manufactured for each patient based on bioinformatics analysis of genetic sequencing from their own bone marrow myeloma cells. Each dose contains 10 unique neoantigen peptides (seven HLA class I binders and three HLA class II binders) derived from the patient's tumor mutations. The therapy aims to activate the patient's immune system to recognize and eliminate myeloma cells, potentially preventing or delaying the progression from the asymptomatic smoldering stage to active multiple myeloma. It is currently being evaluated in early-phase clinical trials both as a monotherapy and in combination with the immunomodulatory drug lenalidomide.
