Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Pertubation with Lidocain Solution (also known as lignocaine pertubation) is an investigational treatment developed by Isifer for couples with unexplained infertility and for the management of dysmenorrhea associated with endometriosis. The treatment involves a gynecological procedure (pertubation) where a low-dose solution of lidocaine (approximately 100 µg/ml in physiological saline or Ringer's solution) is instilled transcervically into the uterus and fallopian tubes. Lidocaine acts as a voltage-gated sodium channel blocker, stabilizing cell membranes and reducing the phagocytosis of spermatozoa by peritoneal macrophages. It also exerts anti-inflammatory effects by removing peritoneal cytokines and other immunological factors, thereby enhancing the likelihood of fertilization and reducing pelvic pain. The formulation has been evaluated in Phase II clinical trials under the brand names Isifera (for infertility) and Endole (for endometriosis).
