Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Pertuzumab + Herzuma is a combination therapy consisting of pertuzumab, a monoclonal antibody targeting the HER2 receptor, and Herzuma (trastuzumab-pkrb), which is a biosimilar of trastuzumab. Both agents are humanized monoclonal antibodies that bind to different domains on the HER2 (human epidermal growth factor receptor 2) protein found on some cancer cells. Pertuzumab inhibits dimerization of HER2 with other HER family receptors, while trastuzumab blocks ligand-independent signaling and mediates antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity. This dual blockade results in more effective inhibition of tumor cell proliferation and survival in cancers overexpressing HER2, particularly breast cancer. The combination is primarily indicated for the treatment of HER2-positive breast cancer, including early-stage, locally advanced, or metastatic disease[4][7].
