Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Peru-Lenicet is a topical ointment developed and marketed by Athenstaedt, primarily used for the treatment of various skin conditions, including minor wounds, skin irritations, and superficial injuries. It is a combination product containing **Peru balsam** (Balsamum peruvianum) and **basic aluminum acetate** (often referred to by the trade name Lenicet). Peru balsam provides mild antiseptic properties and stimulates blood flow to the affected area to promote wound healing (cicatrization). Aluminum acetate acts as an astringent, which helps to dry out weeping wounds, reduce inflammation, and form a protective protein layer on the skin surface. The product is an established over-the-counter (OTC) medication in Germany for skin protection and the support of natural healing processes.
