Overview

Pet10p, also known as Pln1p, is a yeast perilipin protein that localizes to lipid droplets (LDs). It plays a crucial role in neutral lipid homeostasis, specifically interacting with Erg6p (sterol C24-methyltransferase) in ergosterol metabolism. Pet10p is involved in the regulation of triglyceride (TG) and steryl ester (SE) content, stabilizing LDs and promoting their assembly. Its absence can lead to altered lipid metabolism and reduced SE hydrolysis kinetics. Pet10p contains a PAT domain, a characteristic feature of perilipins.
