PEV2A is a virosome-based vaccine candidate developed by Pevion Biotech for the treatment and prevention of Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) infection. The vaccine utilizes Pevion's proprietary virosome technology, which consists of reconstituted influenza virus envelopes (devoid of genetic material) that serve as both a delivery vehicle and a potent adjuvant. PEV2A specifically incorporates synthetic peptides derived from the highly conserved core protein of HCV. In clinical development, it was often evaluated in a Phase I setting alongside PEV2B, which contains peptides from the HCV E1 and E2 envelope proteins, to elicit a comprehensive immune response involving both T-cell activation and antibody production. The program was discontinued following early-stage clinical evaluation.
