PEV2B is a virosome-based vaccine candidate developed by Pevion Biotech for the treatment or prevention of Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) infection. It utilizes a proprietary virosome delivery platform, which consists of synthetic lipid bilayers containing influenza virus surface glycoproteins (hemagglutinin and neuraminidase) but lacking the viral genome. These virosomes serve as both a delivery vehicle and a potent adjuvant. PEV2B specifically carries antigens derived from the HCV envelope glycoproteins E1 and E2. In Phase I clinical trials, it was administered alongside PEV2A (which contains HCV core protein antigens) to evaluate safety and the induction of specific humoral and cellular immune responses against HCV.
