Overview
PF-00610355 (also known as PF-610355) is an investigational, inhalable ultra-long acting β2-adrenoreceptor agonist (ultra-LABA) developed by Pfizer for the once-daily treatment of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It acts primarily in the lungs to induce bronchodilation by stimulating Beta2-adrenoreceptor, leading to relaxation of airway smooth muscle. The drug features a sulfonamide agonist headgroup that confers high intrinsic crystallinity and may support a zwitterionic form in the solid state. Pharmacokinetic optimization aimed to minimize systemic exposure after inhalation, reducing systemically mediated adverse events. Clinical studies reached up to phase II for COPD and asthma but development was discontinued around 2011 for strategic and regulatory reasons.
