Overview

PF-04191834 (also known as PF-4191834) is an orally available, synthetic small molecule that acts as a selective, non-redox inhibitor of the enzyme 5-lipoxygenase (ALOX5). This enzyme catalyzes the conversion of arachidonic acid to leukotrienes, which are potent mediators of inflammation. By inhibiting ALOX5, PF-04191834 reduces the production of proinflammatory lipid mediators and has potential anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects. The drug was initially developed by Pfizer for indications such as asthma and osteoarthritis; however, clinical development has been discontinued[1][2][3][6].
