Overview

PF-06760805 (GBS6) is a hexavalent polysaccharide conjugate vaccine candidate developed by Pfizer for the prevention of Group B Streptococcus (GBS) infections in infants through maternal immunization. The vaccine consists of capsular polysaccharides from the six most common GBS serotypes (Ia, Ib, II, III, IV, and V), each individually conjugated to a CRM197 carrier protein. By vaccinating pregnant individuals, the vaccine aims to induce high levels of protective IgG antibodies that are transplacentally transferred to the fetus, providing passive immunity to the neonate during the first months of life. This approach targets both early-onset and late-onset GBS disease, which are leading causes of neonatal sepsis, pneumonia, and meningitis. PF-06760805 has received Breakthrough Therapy Designation from the FDA and PRIME designation from the EMA.
