Overview

PF-07836395 is a self-amplifying RNA (saRNA) vaccine candidate developed by Pfizer for the prevention of influenza. As an saRNA vaccine, it utilizes a viral replicase (typically derived from an alphavirus) to enable the RNA to replicate itself within the host cell after administration. This mechanism is designed to produce higher and more sustained levels of the encoded influenza antigens compared to conventional mRNA vaccines, potentially allowing for lower doses while maintaining robust immunogenicity. PF-07836395 was evaluated in a Phase 1 dose-finding clinical trial (NCT05477134) to assess its safety, tolerability, and immunogenic profile in healthy adults.
