Overview

PF-07836396 is an experimental self-amplifying ribonucleic acid (saRNA) vaccine candidate developed by Pfizer for the prevention of influenza. As an saRNA vaccine, it contains the genetic information for influenza virus antigens along with the enzymatic machinery required for RNA replication within the host cell. This self-amplification process is designed to enhance the magnitude and duration of antigen expression compared to conventional mRNA vaccines, potentially allowing for lower dosing levels while maintaining high immunogenicity. PF-07836396 is currently being evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials to assess its safety, tolerability, and ability to induce protective immune responses in healthy adults.
