Overview

PF614 is an orally available, extended-release prodrug of oxycodone developed using Trypsin-Activated Abuse Protection (TAAP) technology. It is designed to treat severe and/or chronic pain by releasing oxycodone only after activation by digestive enzyme trypsin in the small intestine. This two-step activation process provides abuse deterrence by preventing immediate release if the drug is chewed, snorted, or otherwise manipulated. The pharmacokinetic profile of PF614 matches that of standard extended-release oxycodone formulations but with significantly lower "Drug Liking" scores among recreational users. The drug aims to provide effective pain relief while reducing risks associated with opioid misuse and abuse[1][2][3][5][7].
