Drug intelligence / Profile preview
PFH-VAP is a microencapsulated nutritional fortification product developed by Particles for Humanity to address vitamin A deficiency (VAD) in low- and middle-income countries. The formulation consists of vitamin A palmitate (VAP) encapsulated within a basic methacrylate copolymer (BMC) matrix, produced as a spray-dried powder. This technology is specifically designed to stabilize vitamin A against degradation caused by heat, humidity, and light, which are prevalent in the storage conditions of hot and humid climates. PFH-VAP is intended for the fortification of staple foods and condiments, such as bouillon cubes, wheat flour, and sugar. The product has undergone commercial-scale manufacturing validation and is supported by organizations including the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
