PFKFB3 overexpressing lentiviral vector is a genetic construct used in preclinical research to deliver and increase the expression of the PFKFB3 gene in target cells. PFKFB3 (6-phosphofructo-2-kinase/fructose-2,6-biphosphatase 3) is a critical regulator of glycolytic metabolism, responsible for synthesizing fructose-2,6-bisphosphate, which allosterically activates phosphofructokinase-1 (PFK-1). In the context of oncology, particularly castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC), overexpression of PFKFB3 is associated with metabolic reprogramming that drives tumor cell proliferation, invasion, and malignant progression. Mechanistically, PFKFB3 has been shown to modulate the PI3K/Akt and Wnt/beta-catenin signaling pathways. This lentiviral tool is primarily utilized to study the oncogenic role of PFKFB3 and to validate it as a potential therapeutic target for metabolic-targeted therapies.
