Drug intelligence / Profile preview
PfLSA-3-rec + Montanide ISA 720 is a malaria vaccine candidate composed of a recombinant *Plasmodium falciparum* liver stage antigen 3 (PfLSA-3) formulated with the adjuvant Montanide ISA 720. The vaccine aims to induce an immune response against the liver stage of *P. falciparum*, potentially preventing malaria infection. Montanide ISA 720 is a squalene-based water-in-oil emulsion adjuvant known to enhance both antibody and cellular immune responses by forming a depot at the injection site and promoting slow antigen release[1][4][8]. The combination has been evaluated in early-phase clinical trials for safety, immunogenicity, and efficacy in malaria prevention[1][4]. Institut Pasteur has been involved in its development[1].
