Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Pfs25M-EPA is a malaria transmission-blocking vaccine candidate consisting of a recombinant form of Plasmodium falciparum surface protein Pfs25 (specifically the Pfs25M variant) chemically conjugated to ExoProtein A (EPA), a recombinant mutant and detoxified protein from Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The Pfs25M variant was developed to remove heterologous amino acid residues present in an earlier version (Pfs25H). This vaccine is designed to interrupt the malaria parasite's life cycle by targeting sexual stage development in mosquitoes, specifically zygotes and ookinetes.
