Overview
PG102P is a botanical extract derived from *Actinidia arguta* (commonly known as hardy kiwi) developed by Helixmith (formerly ViroMed) for the treatment of allergic and inflammatory conditions. It functions as an immune modulator that specifically targets the Th2-mediated immune response, leading to the downregulation of cytokines such as interleukin-4 (IL-4), interleukin-5 (IL-5), and interleukin-13 (IL-13), as well as a reduction in serum immunoglobulin E (IgE) and eosinophil activity. PG102P has been investigated in the SNUG trial (NCT03576235) for its safety and efficacy in treating uremic pruritus, a common and distressing complication in patients with end-stage renal disease undergoing hemodialysis. The extract is also explored for other allergic indications, including atopic dermatitis and allergic rhinitis, due to its ability to restore Th1/Th2 balance.
