Overview
PG4 (also referred to as PG4 Multivalent Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine or 25vPnC) is an investigational next-generation 25-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine being developed by Pfizer. It consists of 25 pneumococcal capsular polysaccharide serotypes conjugated to a carrier protein (consistent with Pfizer's CRM197-based conjugate platform), targeting Streptococcus pneumoniae. PG4 is designed to cover 25 serotypes of pneumococcal bacteria, including the 20 serotypes in Prevnar 20 plus 5 additional serotypes, to broaden protection against pneumococcal disease such as pneumonia, meningitis, bacteremia, and otitis media. It is currently being evaluated in Phase 3 clinical trials in infants, children, adolescents, and healthy adults.
