PG402 is an orally bioavailable small molecule P2Y12 receptor antagonist being developed by Celon Pharma S.A. It is specifically designed for the prevention of atherothrombotic events in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) and those who have experienced a myocardial infarction. By selectively inhibiting the P2Y12 receptor on the surface of platelets, PG402 blocks the adenosine diphosphate (ADP)-induced signaling pathway that leads to platelet activation and aggregation. This mechanism is critical for preventing the formation of arterial thrombi, which can lead to life-threatening cardiovascular events.
